Herzog Contracting Corp. is currently seeking a Director of Quality Control to oversee, provide leadership, and direct the construction quality management program on multiple projects across North America. Primary duties include managing, planning, administering, and supervising all elements of quality for the Company’s many projects.  The Director will provide support to the projects and drive a bottom to top quality culture.


Duties and Responsibilities:

The job duties of the preferred candidate include:

  • Develop and maintain procedures and sustainable best practice policies regarding construction quality management and ensure the application of those procedures and policies company wide.
  • Direct and coordinate with field and office personnel on active and upcoming projects and communicate status and effectiveness of the program to company executives.
  • Conduct periodic quality audits and surveillances of projects nationwide to assess compliance with contracts and specification requirements.
  • Herzog is ISO 9001 certified. ISO 9001:2015, and in some circumstances the USACE Three-Phase Contractor Quality Control Program, serves as the foundation for the company’s quality management program. The candidate will ensure that the requirements of ISO 9001:2015 and, as applicable, the USACE QC Program, are met and the company’s certification is maintained. Additionally, the candidate is expected to identify and implement quality management needs beyond ISO 9001:2015 on a project-specific basis as needed.
  • Lead a nationwide team to support the company’s quality management program, including:
    • Develop staffing plans. 
    • Train and prepare the team to best execute their roles.
    • Participate in team member performance and compensation reviews
    •  Assist Project Teams in the development of Project Specific Quality Control Programs. Support the implementation and ensure the effectiveness of those programs utilizing audits and consultation meetings.
  • Provide examples of similar experiences and accomplishments and demonstrate effective communication skills. The candidate is expected to communicate effectively in various scenarios, including:
    • Prepare and deliver internal and external training seminars and communications in support of company quality management
    • Conduct meetings/presentations regarding the quality management program
    • Conduct field meetings with contractors and engineers in support of the company’s quality management program
    • Present the state of the company quality management program to the executive team, discussing program status, effectiveness and future needs.
  • Prepare, write, review, and present proposals to various owners and partners across the enterprise
  • Other duties as assigned



  • High School degree or equivalent.
  • Four-year college degree or equivalent position relevant field experience
  • 5 years of relevant experience in heavy civil inspection
  • Ability to determine compliant work based on contract requirements
  • Proven years of experience in the field of contracting, construction quality or engineering acting in a supervisory role
  • Understanding of various construction means and methods and general engineering practices
  • Understanding of ISO 9001:2015 and ability to interpret and implement its concepts and procedures within the company
  • Proven track record of managing a division or group of employees in a professional environment
  • Ability to use creativity and perspective in trouble-shooting project-critical issues in the field
  • Willingness to travel frequently to fulfill the position’s requirements nationwide
  • Must be able to speak, write and understand English


Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Pass and maintain e-RAILSAFE pre-employment background check and safety certification. 
  • Subject to motor vehicle report review.
  • Maintain valid driver’s license and endorsements as required per position.
  • Pass pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen
  • Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.
