HSR Constructors is currently seeking an Accounts Payable Clerk for the Virgin Trains USA Phase II Project that runs between West Palm Beach and Cocoa, Florida, with offices located in Melbourne and Ft. Pierce. This 128 mile-long project includes the construction of new track, the rehabilitation and upgrading of existing track; bridges; road crossings; and associated railroad signals work.


HSR Constructors is a joint venture of three of the leading railroad and transit contractors in the nation: Herzog, Stacy and Witbeck, and Railworks; who have joined to construct this fast-paced, high-profile project. 


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • General clerical assistance to the project’s Business Manager
  • Responsible for sorting and distributing mail.
  • Compiles, sorts and files documents, such as invoices, checks, substantiating business transactions.
  • Audits invoices against purchase orders, researches discrepancies.
  • Prepares vouchers, invoices, checks, reports, and other records, and reviews for accuracy.
  • Maintains accounts payable files and other files.
  • Processes and monitors accounts payable to ensure that payments are timely.
  • Reconciles report discrepancies and problems.
  • Codes data for input to accounting processing system according to company procedures.
  • Reviews, balances, and interprets computer reports, and makes corrections.
  • Research and solve payment discrepancies.
  • Provide administrative support for the Business Manager to include telephone coverage, copier projects, mail handling, supplies control and necessary communications internally and externally.
  • Perform special projects as assigned by the Business Manager. Perform all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
  • The employee can be depended on to report to work at the scheduled time and is seldom absent from work. Employee can be depended upon to complete work in a timely, accurate, and thorough manner and is conscientious, about assignments.

  • A High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Business school, Associate’s degree or equivalent is a plus
  • 2-3 years of related experience
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people
  • Must be proficient in MS word, Excel, and the Internet.
  • Operate 10-key calculator by touch.
  • Accurate data entry.
  • Favorable driving record.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Follows policies and procedures; completes administrative tasks correctly and on time; uses time efficiently; maintains confidentiality; identifies and solves problems in a timely manner.
  • A professional appearance and telephone manner is essential.
  • Must have good command of the English language, oral and written.
  • Ability to interface well with all departments of the company in a highly professional manner, while maintaining the highest level of confidentiality.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.


Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
  • Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen
  • Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.


Physical Requirements:

  • Open staff room with constant activity and interaction with cross-functional departments.  Must be able to effectively change tasks at a moment's notice when the situation requires.
  • Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Work is performed mostly indoors with some potential for exposure to safety and health hazards related to electronics work.
  • Some dust, noise, oils, greases, grinding debris, compressed air, metal shavings, propane, solvents and occasional heavy lifting.
  • Exposed to potential accidents of an incapacitating and or fatal nature.
